What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 1 June 2022 · Last inspected 16 May 2022

Inspectors found that people in the extra care flats and reablement unit were supported to pursue personal goals, keep their independence and make their own choices. The environment was clean and well kept, and staff were praised for their skills and responsiveness. The service was rated Good.

Strengths noted
  • Feedback on staff skills, quality of care and responsiveness, including to call bell use, was consistently positive.
  • Staff worked with people to set personal goals and maintain independence, and people's choices were respected in the least restrictive way.
  • The service was visibly clean, and arrangements were in place to keep the premises in good condition seven days a week.
  • An active recruitment programme aimed to reduce agency use and build a consistent, familiar staff team.
Areas to improve
  • Windows that were not restricted increased the risk of falls from height, and individualised risk assessments were not in place at the time. The provider said changes were being made.
  • Some incidents that should have been referred to CQC were not, although inspectors saw the situations had been handled appropriately. A recommendation was made about this.
  • Some aspects of medicines management documentation needed improvement to allow greater monitoring and oversight.
