What inspectors found
CQC: Requires improvementReport published 13 March 2023 · Last inspected 1 March 2023
Inspectors visited The Hollies, a small residential home for up to 10 autistic people and people with a learning disability, and found that the service had moved from inadequate to requires improvement, so it is no longer in special measures. Staff were described as caring and respectful, with people supported to pursue interests, take positive risks and have a say in how the home runs. Oversight has improved, but the checks on medicines administration have not yet caught the errors found during the visit.
- Staff are described as caring, respectful and attentive to people's individual needs, and were praised by a person using the service.
- People are supported to make choices, pursue interests and access community and specialist health support.
- Staff are trained, understand how to recognise and report abuse, and recruitment checks are safe.
- Infection prevention and control measures were in place, and the provider has made improvements to quality monitoring since the last inspection.
- Medicines administration needs improvement, and the provider's checks on it were not always effective at identifying errors, which is a continued breach of regulation.
- Quality monitoring systems are still not robust enough and did not identify the concerns inspectors found during the visit.
