About
Tamar House is a residential care home on the outskirts of Plymouth, in South West England, with 29 registered beds. The purpose-built home has a garden, and families and friends can stay overnight. Residents are supported to keep up relationships with loved ones and to pursue their own interests, through in-house entertainment and regular outings. Meals and drinks are provided on site, with home baking made from fresh produce where possible, and residents are asked about their favourite foods. Each resident has a personal care plan, agreed on arrival and reviewed regularly. Residents may be able to bring a pet, subject to discussion with the House Manager. The home is managed by Abbeyfield Tamar Society.
The Care Quality Commission rates Tamar House as Requires Improvement overall. It has the same grade for each of its five key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The report was published in 2026.
