What inspectors found
CQC: Requires improvementReport published 7 September 2021 · Last inspected 23 July 2021
Sunnycroft Care Home provides accommodation and personal care over two floors for up to 59 people, and most of the 33 residents at the time of inspection were living with dementia. Inspectors found enough staff to keep people safe, but not enough to provide adequate stimulation for residents' wellbeing, an area the provider had already recognised and planned to improve. Relatives spoke positively about the care and the approachability of the management, although some staff did not feel confident raising concerns.
- Relatives were satisfied with the care their family members receive and found the management and provider approachable.
- People received their medicines when they needed them, and the premises and equipment were clean.
- Infection prevention systems were good, including measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- Most of the checks required before staff can work in the service had been completed.
- Risks to people's safety were not always properly assessed and managed, and safeguarding systems were not effective in protecting people from abuse.
- The provider's monitoring of care quality was not robust, and some incidents were not reported to the local authority or CQC when they should have been. Some staff did not feel confident raising concerns.
- Although staffing levels were enough to keep people safe, they were not enough to provide adequate stimulation for people's wellbeing, which the provider had already identified and planned to address.
