People and relatives described a responsive service led by an approachable registered manager. The overall rating fell from good to requires improvement after a focused review of safety and leadership.

Strengths noted

  • Systems were in place to protect people from abuse and to report any harm.
  • People and relatives spoke warmly of a compassionate service and a supportive, approachable registered manager.
Areas to improve
  • Records for people at risk of poor skin integrity needed improving, and some medicines were not stored in line with best practice.
  • Contingency planning was not effective enough to protect people from risk while work to improve and upgrade the building was under way.
  • Oversight of the service needed further development, as the provider had not identified all of the concerns inspectors found.
