What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 12 November 2020 · Last inspected 1 October 2020

Inspectors found that people living across the service's three houses were generally content, and relatives felt they were safe and comfortable. Staff understood people's needs and preferences and followed them day to day, and medicines and infection control arrangements helped keep people safe. The rating was lowered to Requires Improvement because oversight, staffing, risk management and incident follow-up were not always robust enough.

Strengths noted
  • Staff knew people's individual needs, personal characteristics and daily routines and followed them
  • Arrangements for managing medicines and preventing infection helped keep people safe
  • Staff, people and relatives were regularly consulted to help shape and improve care
  • The provider worked with outside authorities and care professionals to support people's independence and equipment needs
Areas to improve
  • Governance and oversight of the service were not fully effective in ensuring care quality, safety and timely improvement
  • Staffing levels and risk management processes did not always adequately monitor, record and analyse people's safety
  • Some staff were not always confident about recognising and reporting abuse, and incident reviews did not always prevent repeat events
