Staff were knowledgeable, sought support from other health professionals where needed, and were described as approachable by people, relatives and staff. The home relied on agency staff regularly because of recruitment difficulties, although senior staff managed staffing levels and recruitment was under way.

- Care records were individualised, and risk assessments had been updated with guidance to reduce avoidable harm.
- Medicines were given safely, with staff training and audits of practice in place.
- The registered manager responded quickly to concerns about cleaning and repairs, and the home had refurbished some bathrooms.
- A high number of environmental repairs were needed, including to doors, windows, door frames, flooring and some radiators.
- Systems for monitoring quality and safety needed further review to address maintenance, repair and cleaning issues, and the refurbishment programme needed confirmed timescales.
- The home regularly used agency staff because of difficulties recruiting permanent staff.
