About

Longridge Hall and Lodge is a 60-bed care home in Preston, Lancashire. The Care Quality Commission rated it Good overall in its 2023 report and graded each of the five key questions (safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led) as Good. A BBC Breakfast film crew visited the home to ask how it reached a 100% staff vaccination rate, and officers from Lancashire County Council presented it with an award for that achievement.

The manager, Tracey Hartley, invited a local GP and nurse practitioner in August 2020 to talk with staff and answer their questions. All staff have since had two vaccinations, and those who completed their second dose have been booked in for a six-month booster. Resident Donald Harrison, who moved in during lockdown to be closer to his wife, said knowing that staff are vaccinated gives him peace of mind.
