What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 9 March 2023 · Last inspected 23 January 2023

Inspectors visited Langford Park, a care home for older people, people living with dementia and younger adults with physical disabilities, in January 2023. They found people felt safe, there were enough staff, and the service worked well with outside health and social care professionals. Staff described feeling well supported, and the management team was open and learning-focused while a permanent manager was recruited.

Strengths noted
  • Quality assurance systems identified most issues before the inspection, and the provider acted quickly on the rest
  • A robust pre-admission process helps make sure new placements are safe and well planned
  • Staff were recruited safely, safeguarding processes were in place, and people's choice and control were supported
  • Management was open and transparent, and most staff said they felt well supported
Areas to improve
  • Care plans needed improvement on cleaning equipment and recognising signs of infection, though these were updated during the inspection
  • Medicines processes needed some improvements, including recording of topical medicines, storage of oxygen cylinders and protocols for as-required medicines
  • Last-minute sickness among staff had been a challenge, though it had improved in recent weeks
