What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 20 December 2023 · Last inspected 27 November 2023

Inspectors found that people at this 15-bed residential home for older people and people living with dementia were very happy with their care, and that staff went beyond what was expected to support them. People were supported to make choices and keep control of their lives, with staff using the least restrictive approach, and staff had training on the Mental Capacity Act. Inspectors found that risk assessments were clear, medicines were managed effectively, infection control was followed, and the management team's staffing and recruitment systems met requirements.

Strengths noted
  • People and relatives described compassionate, holistic care that supported a good quality of life.
  • Staff were committed to good outcomes and took ownership of their practice.
  • Risk assessments were clear and staff knew the actions to take.
  • Medicines were closely monitored and staff who administered them were trained.
Areas to improve
  • Staff found it hard to finish some tasks on time when more people needed two staff to support them, and the provider has reviewed its staffing dependency tool in response.
  • The provider was part-way through moving from paper to electronic care records, and inspectors discussed how this could be improved.
