What inspectors found
CQC: GoodReport published 27 April 2022 · Last inspected 24 March 2022
Inspectors carried out a focused review of Clarendon Manor, a residential home for up to 35 people, including people living with dementia, looking at the safe and well-led areas only. Relatives said their family members were well looked after by kind, caring and proactive staff, and many staff had worked at the home for a long time, supporting consistent care. Staffing pressures meant the home relied heavily on agency staff, which at times affected the quality of care.
- Staff were described as having good knowledge of keeping people safe and managing risks to health and safety
- Management were seen as approachable and supportive, and relatives felt their concerns were listened to and acted on
- Staff said they worked well as a team and enjoyed working at the home, which they described as friendly
- People were supported to have maximum choice and control, with least restrictive practice in line with their best interests
- Some risk management plans for catheter care needed more detail
- Quality assurance processes and audits took place but needed improvement to be effective and to help reduce risks to people
- Reliance on agency staff due to staffing pressures sometimes affected the quality of care
