What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 13 February 2023 · Last inspected 20 January 2023

Chiltern Health Division provides personal care in people's own homes. Inspectors found that people usually had a consistent group of carers who arrived within an agreed time window and stayed for the whole visit. Staff understood safeguarding and the principles of consent and the Mental Capacity Act, and people were supported to keep choice and control over their lives.

Strengths noted
  • Staff understood safeguarding procedures, and safe recruitment checks were followed.
  • People were supported safely with their medicines, and infection control practices were good.
  • Staff reported accidents and incidents promptly, and lessons learned were shared with the team.
  • Staff felt supported and spoke positively about teamwork, and professionals who work with the service gave very positive feedback.
Areas to improve
  • Some care records needed strengthening, as risk assessments were not always personalised to known risks and care plans were not always reviewed or updated after changes.
  • Some required notifications had not been sent to CQC; this was put right during the inspection.
  • People and relatives were usually, but not always, told when carers were running late.
