What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 21 April 2022 · Last inspected 10 March 2022

Inspectors found that improvements made since the last inspection were not yet fully embedded, and the home had no registered manager at the time, with a senior quality manager from the provider's other locations present daily instead. Staff said they did not always feel listened to about staffing and deployment, and the provider was working to improve communication. Relatives spoke positively about caring, kind staff, and risk assessments and infection control were generally in place, though some equipment and bedrooms needed attention, which was addressed during the visit.

Strengths noted
  • Relatives commented positively about the care their family members received and the kindness of staff
  • Risk assessments were completed and mitigations were in place, with detailed handovers compensating for some gaps in care plans
  • The home followed required COVID-19 guidance
  • Medicines were managed safely
Areas to improve
  • Staff training was not always provided for their roles, or completed training was not recorded
  • Audits did not always identify areas for improvement or ensure a consistent approach, and boxed medicine stocks were not included in audits
  • There was a lack of daily activity options for people, linked to reallocated staffing
