About

Astell Care Centre, run by Crown Care, is a residential and nursing home in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, with 96 registered beds. The ground floor takes both men and women, and includes a separate area for women who need more specialised support with complex behaviours. The entire top floor is reserved for men and is set up for people with mental health needs, including dementia. Staff are trained in person-centred care, and the home works with a local GP, who visits weekly to cover residents' care and medical needs.

Meals are offered as daily menu choices, catering for nutritional, religious and cultural needs, and on-site laundry is available. An Activities Team arranges group and one-to-one activities based on individual interests. Regular residents' and relatives' meetings give families a say in planning events and social activities. The Care Quality Commission rates the home Good overall (report published 2025), with Good ratings for safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
