What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 23 February 2022 · Last inspected 12 January 2022

Inspectors found that people receiving personal care at home were generally positive about the staff, who were described as caring and kind. People were involved in planning their care, and their choices, privacy, independence and cultural needs were respected. Some people and relatives were unhappy about late, inconsistent or shortened calls, and inspectors also found gaps in recruitment checks and care records, which the provider acted on.

Strengths noted
  • People described staff as caring and kind.
  • People were involved in planning their care and in making decisions about their support.
  • Staff received appropriate training, felt supported by colleagues and the manager, and said they valued working at the service.
  • Systems and training were in place to safeguard people from harm, and people were supported to keep choice and control over their lives.
Areas to improve
  • Some people and relatives raised concerns about late calls, changing staff and care visits that did not last the allocated time. The provider reviewed its quality monitoring and contacted the people affected.
  • Some staff had been recruited without checks on gaps in their employment history, and some care records did not fully describe risks and how to manage them. The provider updated these records straight away.
  • Some relatives were concerned that staff did not always wear personal protective equipment correctly, although staff told inspectors there was enough equipment.
