What inspectors found
CQC: GoodReport published 19 July 2022 · Last inspected 29 June 2022
Inspectors visited Woodheath Care Home, which provides accommodation and nursing care for up to 61 people and had 59 residents at the time, some living with dementia. Staff were described as trained and competent in giving medicines, with infection control measures, PPE use and cleaning in place. Feedback from people, relatives and staff about the care and management was positive, and staff said they felt well supported.
- Staff who give medicines had completed training and had their competency assessed
- Infection prevention and control policies were in place, and PPE was available and worn appropriately
- Safeguarding awareness was good and staff knew how to raise concerns
- Relatives were kept informed of changes, including during periods when visiting was restricted
- Stock balances of some medicines did not match the recorded figures, and a medicine storage temperature was not checked daily as required
- Not all staff were up to date with training courses the provider considers mandatory
- Systems for checking COVID-19 testing and for monitoring quality and safety were not robust enough and need further development
