What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 5 April 2024 · Last inspected 23 November 2023

Inspectors found that everyday care did not always reflect people's individual needs, and that support at mealtimes still needed to improve, with meals not always provided in a person-centred or timely way. Medicines were managed as prescribed, staffing levels and safe recruitment were judged adequate, and staff were described as knowledgeable about residents and feeling supported by management. Governance and oversight systems were found not to be effective enough at spotting problems and acting on them in time, and the home remains rated Requires Improvement.

Strengths noted
  • Staff know how to recognise and escalate possible abuse, and people are protected from harm
  • Medicines are given as prescribed and there are enough staff to meet people's needs safely
  • Care plans reflect people's wishes and preferences, and staff understand their likes and dislikes
  • Health needs are managed with support from external agencies, and people are supported to make their own choices
Areas to improve
  • Care was not always person-centred, and mealtime support needs to improve in both person-centred approach and timeliness
  • Governance systems were not effective in identifying issues and taking timely action, which is a breach of regulations
  • Most concerns from the previous inspection were addressed, but the provider remained in breach of regulations at this inspection
