What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 30 January 2024 · Last inspected 9 January 2024

Inspectors found that people living at the home, which supports up to 23 people including some living with dementia, spoke very positively about their care and day-to-day life. Staff were described as knowing people well, and people were supported to make their own choices, with restraint used only in the least restrictive way possible. Inspectors noted that the home has struggled to recruit senior staff and has no deputy manager, and that this has led to some areas of the service declining.

Strengths noted
  • People spoke warmly about the care they receive and about living at the home.
  • Risks to people's care were identified and managed, and staff knew how to recognise and report abuse.
  • Medicines were given as prescribed by staff who were trained and assessed as competent, and accidents and incidents were reviewed to spot patterns and learn lessons.
  • People were supported to have as much choice and control over their lives as possible, and a range of audits monitored the quality of the home.
Areas to improve
  • The home has had difficulty recruiting to its senior team and has no deputy manager, and the reduced senior staffing has led to some areas of the service declining.
  • Inspectors found minor concerns during a tour of the home, along with small discrepancies in medication management and recruitment. These were acted on immediately, and recruitment to the senior team is still ongoing.
