What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 29 January 2024 · Last inspected 13 December 2023

Inspectors found that people at this home for up to 14 people generally felt secure, and that relatives spoke warmly of the staff team. Staff were described as knowing people well and treating them with consideration, with people encouraged to take part in decisions about their care. However, the report found shortcomings in managing risks, medicines, recruitment follow-up and oversight, and it said there was too little stimulation and too few activities.

Strengths noted
  • Relatives were full of praise for the staff and management team.
  • Families were welcomed to visit, and infection prevention routines were adhered to.
  • Staff received an induction and completed a range of training to support their skills.
  • Care plans held personal details that helped staff connect with people, and end-of-life wishes were recorded where suitable.
Areas to improve
  • Some risks to people's health and safety had not been identified or reduced, and medicines were not always managed or stored safely.
  • Communal areas were left without staff presence for periods, one staff member's missing references had not been acted on, and activities for people were limited.
  • Governance checks were not always effective at finding problems, and staff had not had supervision for some time.
