What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 21 August 2023 · Last inspected 30 June 2023

Tiltwood is a residential home for up to 50 older people, including people living with dementia, and 42 people were living there at the inspection. Inspectors found that people were protected from harm, that staff familiar with their needs were trained and coached regularly, and that people were supported to make their own choices. The report also said the building was not fully suited to people with dementia.

Strengths noted
  • Safeguarding arrangements were in place, risks were assessed, and staff took action to protect people from harm.
  • Pre-employment checks were carried out so that staff were suitably vetted before starting work.
  • Staff received regular training, with ongoing coaching to build their skills and experience.
  • People were supported to have choice and control, with the least restrictive approaches used in their best interests, and the provider's governance systems had improved and were used to drive improvement.
Areas to improve
  • The physical environment was not fully suitable for people living with dementia, and the provider was asked to consider best practice in its planned changes to design and decoration.
  • Inspectors identified improvements needed in the Effective area of care, although the provider was already acting on them.
