What inspectors found
CQC: GoodReport published 7 October 2022 · Last inspected 17 August 2022
Inspectors found that medicines management had improved, though guidance for 'when required' and variable-dose medicines still needed strengthening and some cream and lotion records were incomplete. Oversight by the provider has become more robust, but these systems need to be further embedded. Staff, people using the service and relatives spoke very positively about the manager, the culture is much more positive than before, and the service is clean and well maintained.
- Risks to people are assessed, monitored and managed, and people's nutrition and hydration needs are appropriately met, including modified diets.
- Staffing levels are sufficient to provide safe care, and safe recruitment procedures are in place.
- The manager has built good relationships with professionals, makes timely referrals, and is highly regarded by staff, relatives and people using the service.
- Lessons are learnt when things go wrong, people's choice and control are supported, and the service is clean, tidy and well maintained.
- Some care plans contain inconsistent information and lack clarity, although staff say they receive up-to-date information at handovers.
- Some staff did not have a clear understanding of high calorie drinks, which the manager addressed immediately.
- Provider oversight systems and processes need to become further embedded and maintained.
