What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 11 September 2019 · Last inspected 8 August 2019

Inspectors found that people's choices and cultural needs were recorded and respected, and that staff communicated in ways suited to each person and were seen interacting with them in caring, patient ways. Staff and people knew each other well, and the home was described as friendly and open, with staff saying they were happy in their jobs and felt supported. The home was found to be clean and generally well maintained.

Strengths noted
  • Risks were managed and recruitment checks were robust, which helped keep people safe.
  • Care records reflected individual needs, choices and cultural requirements, and staff supported people in the ways they preferred.
  • Staff communicated appropriately with people, taking account of any difficulties they had in understanding, and were seen acting in caring ways.
  • Complaints were used to identify learning, feedback was sought from people, and the registered manager and provider carried out regular quality and safety checks.
Areas to improve
  • Inspectors found that the deployment of staff could have been improved at times.
  • The activity coordinator was working in the kitchen on the day of inspection, and no meaningful activities were observed, so a recommendation was made about this.
  • Staff did not regularly receive formal supervision, although they said they felt supported.
