What inspectors found
CQC: Requires improvementReport published 19 May 2023 · Last inspected 29 March 2023
Inspectors found that people enjoy their time with support workers, and that games and activities were taking place on both days of the visit. Staff described the job and the support they receive in positive terms, and the report says support workers had clear guidance on helping people who become anxious. However, leadership and quality checks did not consistently identify shortfalls or lead to action, and the home was rated Requires Improvement overall, down from its previous Good rating.
- People spoke positively about the home and the time they spend with support workers, and inspectors saw games and activities underway on both days.
- Staff spoke well of working at the home and of the support they receive to deliver person-centred care.
- Medicines were managed effectively, people were protected from the risk of infection, and individual risks were known to support workers.
- When incidents or accidents occurred, the registered manager had systems in place to take appropriate action and reduce the risk of avoidable harm.
- The provider's governance systems did not always identify or act on concerns, and actions from audits carried out in February 2023 had not been taken forward.
- People's care needs were not always recorded in full.
- Routine checks of the environment did not always identify potential shortfalls, and the report records a breach relating to good governance.
