What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 17 November 2022 · Last inspected 1 November 2022

Inspectors found that medicines were given when needed, infection control was followed, and staff were trained, felt supported and were listened to. People's needs were assessed, they enjoyed their food and had access to health professionals, but care plans and risk management were not always followed or detailed enough, and record keeping and oversight systems were not effective.

Strengths noted
  • People received their medicines when they needed them, and the medicine systems were followed.
  • Infection control procedures were followed and put into practice.
  • There were enough suitably trained staff, and staff said they felt supported and listened to.
  • People's needs were assessed, they had a choice of food that they enjoyed, their dietary needs were considered, and they could reach health professionals when needed.
Areas to improve
  • Care plans were not always followed, emotional distress plans lacked detailed guidance for staff, and individual risks were not always managed safely.
  • People did not always have the maximum choice and control over their lives, and staff did not always use the least restrictive approach; the home's policies did not support this.
  • Systems were disorganised, information about people was hard to find, and concerns that had been identified were not acted on sufficiently.
