Report published 24 February 2023 · Last inspected 3 February 2023

Inspectors found that people living at Regency Court, a care home for older people including some living with dementia, felt safe and received person-centred care, and relatives described staff as kind and compassionate. Staffing levels, staff training, medicines management and the cleanliness of the building were all found to be good. The report also notes that leadership, which had been inconsistent for a couple of years, has improved under the current manager, whom relatives and staff speak highly of.

Strengths noted
  • Staffing levels were enough to meet people's needs and keep them safe, and staff received the training and support they needed.
  • Medicines were managed safely, and risks to people were assessed and managed well.
  • People and relatives praised staff for their kindness and compassion, and staff were seen to respect people's privacy and dignity.
  • People were offered a choice of food and drink, had access to healthcare, and were involved in planning and reviewing their care.
Areas to improve
  • Recruitment checks needed to be more robust, including the accuracy of application forms, employment history and reference verification, and inspectors recommended that the provider review its recruitment process.
  • Care records had improved, but some further minor improvements were identified.
  • The overall rating is requires improvement, and the provider is expected to make further changes to reach at least good.
