What inspectors found
CQC: GoodReport published 1 August 2023 · Last inspected 5 July 2023
Inspectors found the home's everyday care, staff and atmosphere generally positive: staff and managers were described as open and honest, people and relatives spoke well of staff, and the home supported choice, meals, visits and access to health professionals. Activities were enjoyed by people living there. Record keeping was a weak point, with care plans, risk assessments and capacity or best interest decisions not always completed with the required detail.
- Staff and management culture was described as positive, with staff keen to learn and improve care
- Interactions between staff and people living there were observed to be kind and caring
- Medicines were managed safely and risks were managed through appropriate assessments
- People were offered meal choices, supported to receive health care, and encouraged to receive visits from relatives
- Care records, including some care plans, risk assessments and best interest decisions, were not always complete or accurate
- Audits did not always identify the recording gaps found during the inspection, and inspectors recommended better monitoring of record keeping
- Not all mental capacity assessments and best interest records had been completed when required
