What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 16 March 2020 · Last inspected 18 February 2020

Inspectors found that this short-term intermediate care and rehabilitation home tailors support to each person's needs, wishes and preferences, and that staff were considered and compassionate in their approach. Therapy from physiotherapists and occupational therapists helped people build confidence and daily living skills. Training compliance, medicines storage and weekend activities were identified as areas to improve.

Strengths noted
  • New staff completed a full induction, and people said staff knew their support needs well.
  • Medicines were given by staff who had been trained for the task and whose competency was checked regularly.
  • Staffing levels were closely monitored, recruitment was safe, and care records were up to date and consistent.
  • Physiotherapists and occupational therapists provided therapy that helped people's confidence and independence.
Areas to improve
  • Not all staff had received annual refresher training, and the report recommends the provider strengthen training compliance.
  • Some prescription medicines were not stored in line with the medication policy, although the registered manager addressed this during the inspection.
  • Some feedback suggested that more stimulating activities could be offered at weekends.
