What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 30 June 2022 · Last inspected 28 April 2022

Inspectors found that people were treated with kindness and compassion, that personal care respected their privacy and dignity, and that families stayed in contact during the pandemic as far as possible. Staff were described as friendly, there were enough suitably trained staff, and people said they enjoyed the activities, which relatives had seen improve. Some areas of the home were being refurbished, and the report notes that the work and the condition of some decor affected infection control and the premises.

Strengths noted
  • Staff were kind and caring, and personal care was delivered with due regard for privacy and dignity.
  • Medicines were managed safely, and the provider had improved its medicines audit processes.
  • Staff had safeguarding training and there were enough suitably trained staff to meet people's assessed needs.
  • People enjoyed the activities on offer, and relatives reported a wider range than before.
Areas to improve
  • Records of repositioning and continence checks, used to reduce the risk of skin breakdown, were not always complete, and staff did not always use the electronic care record system effectively.
  • Care plans were still being moved onto the new electronic system and did not always show involvement from people or their relatives.
  • Relatives' ongoing concerns about how laundry was managed had not been effectively resolved.
