Report published 24 March 2023 · Last inspected 21 February 2023

Inspectors visited a care home that supports older people and people with physical disabilities or dementia, and found 52 people living across two units in use. Staff were described as caring and respectful of people's privacy, dignity and independence, and relatives spoke well of how they were treated. Support plans were detailed, were reviewed regularly, and encouraged people to take part in activities both in the home and in the wider community.

Strengths noted
  • Staff recruitment checks, safeguarding training and infection prevention were all in place, and staff knew how to protect people.
  • Risks to people and to the premises were assessed, and people were supported to make choices while their rights and best interests were respected.
  • Staff received relevant training, regular supervision and appraisal, and training records were up to date.
  • Complaints were looked into thoroughly, quality checks led to improvements, and the registered manager was described positively by staff and relatives.
Areas to improve
  • Inspectors made recommendations about the keeping of some medicines records and the scope of medicines audits, including checks on equipment used by people with long-term health conditions.
  • Inspectors made a recommendation about how many staff are on duty and how they are deployed across the home.
