CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 25 November 2021 · Last inspected 11 November 2021

Inspectors visited Meadow House, a residential home for up to nine people with mental ill health needs, in November 2021 as a focused check on safety, effectiveness and leadership. They found that earlier breaches had been addressed, including improved management of risks such as fire safety, and that people felt safe and received their medicines from trained staff. Staff were described as trained and supported, people's views of the manager were positive, and the service remains rated requires improvement.

Strengths noted
  • People said they felt safe and staff understood how to keep them safe
  • Medicines were given as prescribed by trained staff, and staff were recruited safely
  • The manager and staff were praised, and management oversight of the service had improved
  • Partnership working with other professionals supported people's physical and mental health
Areas to improve
  • Further improvement was needed to make sure all care was provided safely in a safe environment
  • Records of mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions needed improvement
  • Quality monitoring systems were new and needed more time to become fully effective, and feedback needed to be used better to drive improvement
