What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 21 June 2023 · Last inspected 20 April 2023

Inspectors found that staff were kind and caring, and that people were supported to make their own choices, with restrictions kept to the minimum needed. Staffing levels and rotas had improved and were judged sufficient for people's needs. Leaders were described as approachable, and relationships with outside professionals were positive.

Strengths noted
  • Medicines management met professional standards, and people received their prescribed doses.
  • Staff were recruited safely and received induction and training, and safeguarding systems were in place with staff clear on what to do.
  • Risk assessments had been completed and risks to people's health and wellbeing had reduced since the previous inspection.
  • People could take part in social and leisure activities, and end-of-life care was described as appropriate.
Areas to improve
  • Oversight of hygiene, refresher training, risk assessments and complaints was not robust enough, and there was no check that assessments had been completed correctly.
  • Comments and concerns from people and their families were not always recorded in a way that allowed lessons to be learnt.
  • Some areas were not fully free of odours, and two bathrooms could not be used by people because they needed repair.
