What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 5 October 2022 · Last inspected 26 July 2022

Inspectors found that people were supported to make choices and stay as independent as possible, and that staff worked with outside professionals to meet people's health needs. Staff received induction, supervision and training, and feedback from staff and people about the management was positive. The report also says that medicines, risk management, infection prevention and record keeping all need to improve.

Strengths noted
  • Staff receive an induction when they join, regular supervision, and access to a range of training.
  • Safeguarding practices were followed, incidents were reported appropriately, and the registered manager was candid when things went wrong.
  • People's dietary wishes were respected, their healthcare needs were supported, and an activities coordinator arranged activities.
  • People's dignity and equality were respected, they had access to advocacy when needed, and the home was clean and tidy during the visit.
Areas to improve
  • Medicines were not always managed safely or recorded accurately, and some risk assessments were missing or not readily available.
  • Infection prevention and control practices were not always followed, and staff recruitment checks needed improvement.
  • Care plans were not always person-centred and some contained duplicated or incorrect details, quality assurance was not always robust, and the complaints log was not assured to be accurate.
