About
Housteads is a 40-bed residential and dementia care home in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, set among gardens and woodland. In warmer weather residents can spend time outdoors, and from the windows they can watch birds and squirrels. Bedrooms can be personalised to each resident's taste, and friends and relatives may visit at any time, as there are no set visiting hours. Each staff member is assigned to a single corridor to support continuity of care. The home is about four miles from Sheffield city centre, on a local bus route, and close to shops, pubs and places to eat.
The home is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, with Good grades across safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and well-led. Activities include games, physical activity sessions, arts and crafts, and trips out, and the home has links with a local church and a school. Meals can be adjusted on request, with traditional home-cooked dishes and snacks between meals.
