What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 12 January 2024 · Last inspected 22 November 2023

Inspectors visited in November 2023 and found that the 26 older people living at the home, some of whom have dementia, generally received care that people and their families valued. Staff were described as understanding their role in keeping people safe, and residents were supported to make choices and keep control over their daily lives. Inspectors did, however, find that dignity was not always upheld and that care was not always tailored closely enough to individual needs.

Strengths noted
  • Feedback from residents and their relatives about the care provided was positive.
  • Safeguarding systems are in place and staff understand their responsibilities for protecting people.
  • People are supported to make their own choices, and staff use the least restrictive approach that is in their best interests.
  • Assessments and care plans were described as detailed.
Areas to improve
  • Dignity and respect were not consistently upheld, and the provider was found in breach of this regulation.
  • Personal care did not always match people's assessed needs, and a concern raised by a person feeling unwell was not acted on promptly enough.
  • Systems for managing risk and monitoring quality were not yet effective or fully established, care records did not always reflect the care given, and monitoring of some medicines needed improvement.
