About
The Home of Comfort Nursing Home is a non-profit registered charity in Southsea, Portsmouth. Mother Emma, Head Deaconess of the Winchester Diocese, founded it in 1896 as a small home for 12 residents. It is now registered for 30 beds and cares for 29 older people with nursing needs, including long-term and palliative care. It also offers respite care when a place is available. Nursing professionals are among the staff on duty at all hours. The home is a short walk from local shops and the seafront, and residents are encouraged to take part in a varied activities programme. Visitors are welcome, and for a small charge the home can arrange meals and accommodation for relatives who wish to stay longer. The Care Quality Commission rated the home Requires Improvement overall in its 2026 report, with the same grade for all five key questions.
