What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 15 September 2023 · Last inspected 8 August 2023

Inspectors found that people at this single-storey home, which includes a unit for people living with dementia, said they felt safe, and their relatives said they were well looked after. Staff have training suited to residents' needs, including on reducing risks such as falls and serious infections, and people are helped to make their own choices. A registered manager is in post, and people, relatives and staff feel comfortable raising concerns.

Strengths noted
  • Staff have training matched to residents' needs, including on falls and serious infections.
  • Medicines are given as prescribed by staff whose competence has been checked.
  • Incidents and accidents are logged and reviewed, and the lessons are passed on to staff.
  • Recruitment is carried out safely and there are sufficient staff to meet people's needs.
Areas to improve
  • Systems for spotting where infection prevention needs to improve have not always worked well, so inspectors recommend ongoing monitoring and prompt action when risks are found.
  • Daily reviews were not effective enough, leaving some people at risk of dehydration.
  • Care plans for people who need support with diabetes did not always include suitable measures to reduce risk. Inspectors found no one had been harmed.
