About

Home Instead Senior Care is a home care agency that provides care and support in people's own homes. It is based in Nottingham, in the East Midlands, and its care focus is dementia. It also supports older people, younger adults, and people with physical disabilities, mental health needs, sensory impairment, learning disabilities or eating disorders. The Care Quality Commission rates the agency Outstanding overall, with Caring and Well-led also graded Outstanding and Safe, Effective and Responsive graded Good.

The agency matches each client with a care professional based on skills, interests and personality, so support is tailored to the individual. Help can range from a few hours of companionship to more specialist or round-the-clock care, with visits arranged around the client's own schedule. Staff guide clients through each step at a pace that suits them, and pricing is set out from the start. The agency operates under the Home Instead brand.

What inspectors found

CQC: Outstanding

Report published 29 July 2019 · Last inspected 24 June 2019

Inspectors found that Home Instead Senior Care, a domiciliary agency in east Nottinghamshire supporting older people, some with dementia, provided highly personalised everyday care. People described staff as going well beyond their duties, and relatives and external professionals agreed. Staff were described as well supported, knowledgeable about safeguarding, and effectively rostered.

Strengths noted
  • People usually saw the same familiar staff, whom they regarded as friends, and staff turnover was very low with no agency staff used.
  • Care visits lasted at least an hour, and care plans were detailed and took account of each person's likes and dislikes.
  • Staff received relevant training and ample professional support, and knew what to do if abuse was suspected.
  • People were supported to make their own choices, with care delivered in the least restrictive way, and quality was monitored both locally and by the national provider.
