What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 27 July 2023 · Last inspected 30 May 2023

Inspectors found that people received person-centred care, with staff treating them with dignity and respect and listening to people and their relatives. Staff had suitable training, including specific training for people at the end of their life, and worked well with other health professionals. The report also says that the home is being redecorated to better meet people's needs.

Strengths noted
  • People were kept safe from harm and abuse, and medicines were generally managed safely.
  • Enough staff had been recruited safely, and people were supported with a suitable diet and enough fluids.
  • People were supported to take part in activities, and a recently recruited activities coordinator had been appointed.
  • People, relatives and staff said the manager was approachable, and lessons were learned when things went wrong.
Areas to improve
  • Routine building safety checks were not thorough enough to identify some problems that inspectors found.
  • Standards of cleanliness were not always maintained, which weakened infection control.
  • Quality checks were not always effective, and there were inaccuracies in record keeping.
