About
Hardwick Dene is a residential home with 50 registered beds, set in a large country house built in the 1920s in the style of an Edwardian gentleman's residence. The building has operated as a care home since 1990 and stands in landscaped gardens in the village of Buckden, within the St Neots area of Cambridgeshire. Residents can see peacocks, tumbler pigeons and other wildlife in the grounds, and a daily bus service runs from the village to Huntingdon, St Neots, Bedford and Cambridge. The home accepts people over 65, including married couples and partners, and provides residential, dementia and respite care on both long-term and short-term bases. Care is available around the clock from staff, many of whom have worked there for ten years or more.
The Care Quality Commission's overall rating for the home is Requires Improvement, in a report published in 2026. Its key-question grades are Requires Improvement for safe, effective, responsive and well-led, and Good for caring.
