What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 6 July 2022 · Last inspected 11 May 2022

Inspectors found that people at Grange Nursing Home appeared comfortable, and that staff spoke with them kindly and patiently. Medicines, infection control and safeguarding were handled appropriately, and there appeared to be enough staff, including a familiar team. Inspectors found that the provider's checks on quality and safety, and some records of risk, needed to be improved.

Strengths noted
  • Staff were described as caring and patient, and people appeared at ease in their company.
  • Medicines were managed safely, and infection control standards were monitored appropriately.
  • Safeguarding systems were in place, and relatives said they felt their family members were safe with staff.
  • Risks were assessed with plans to guide staff, staff were recruited safely, and familiar staff, including agency workers, were reported to be on duty.
Areas to improve
  • Records used to monitor risk were not always completed, so they did not consistently show that people had received the safe care they needed.
  • The provider's systems for monitoring quality and safety did not always identify risks or bring about improvements.
  • The provider was found to be in breach of a regulation on good governance, and needs to improve its governance and reporting.
