About

Florence House is a respite care home in Bristol, South West England, with seven registered beds. It is one of five small properties run by Care Futures, an organisation that traces its origins to 1950 and is now run by the second generation of its founding family. The home supports adults and children with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, including complex and profound health needs, with people grouped in small households so that daily life can be tailored to each person. Occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychiatrists are in regular contact, and a GP visits weekly to review health needs. Staff complete induction, legally required and role-specific training, and the owners live on site and can make decisions quickly when needed. Relatives and friends can visit without fixed hours or appointments, sharing a meal or spending private time with the person they are visiting.
