About
Exmouth House sits at the top of Long Causeway in Exmouth, East Devon. It began as a family house, later became a private school, and has since been adapted into a specialist care home with 31 registered beds. It provides dementia, residential and respite care, as well as day care, and its team supports people with a wide range of needs, including complex dementia.
The Care Quality Commission rates the home Outstanding overall, with Caring and Responsive also graded Outstanding and Safe, Effective and Well-led graded Good. That overall rating was published in 2020. Residents take part in activities planned around their own history and interests, and a "Make a Wish" scheme invites them to name a dream or memory they would like to revisit. Meals follow a varied menu designed to be familiar and to suit different dietary needs.
