What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 11 May 2023 · Last inspected 12 April 2023

Inspectors found that people received caring, respectful support, with residents speaking well of their meals and of staff who knew their needs. Activities based on personal interests, recording of cultural preferences and a newly introduced end-of-life document were also noted. Several areas still needed work, including cleanliness, staffing in one building and the monitoring of quality and risk, so the rating remains requires improvement.

Strengths noted
  • People were positive about the choice and standard of food and drink, and their dietary needs were known and monitored.
  • Staff were described as caring and as understanding people's needs, with choice and independence encouraged.
  • Health needs were monitored, and staff worked with outside health professionals to help people achieve good outcomes.
  • Staff were recruited safely, said they enjoyed working at the service, and were checked on their competency.
Areas to improve
  • Systems for assessing and monitoring quality and risk were not robust enough in some areas.
  • Cleanliness and hygiene needed improving in some parts of the service, although immediate action was taken.
  • Staffing in one of the two buildings was not consistently sufficient to meet people's needs and keep them safe.
