What inspectors found
CQC: Requires improvementReport published 7 October 2022 · Last inspected 3 August 2022
Inspectors found that people were supported with their needs, that risks were managed to reduce harm, and that medicines were handled safely with enough staff on duty. Many areas were judged positively, including safeguarding, infection control, nutrition and access to healthcare. However, staff did not receive the supervision and support they needed to work effectively, and frequent changes in management and high staff turnover had affected the quality of the service.
- Medicines were given and managed safely, and there were enough staff available to support people.
- Staff had safeguarding training and knew how to report abuse, and incidents were reviewed so that lessons were learned.
- People were supported to eat a balanced diet and drink enough, and their needs were assessed in line with best practice guidance.
- People had access to the healthcare services they needed, staff worked well with other services, and people's end-of-life wishes were recorded and followed.
- Staff were not supported and supervised well enough to be effective in their roles.
- Care plans did not always explore the best ways to meet people's individual needs.
- Inconsistent management and high turnover of staff and managers had affected the quality of the service and staff performance.
