About
Conifer Lodge is a care home in Hove, housed in three large Edwardian houses on a residential street a few minutes' walk from shops, cafés, a post office, a library and an adult learning centre. It supports up to 26 people over 55 who live with mental health problems, and care staff are on duty around the clock. The Care Quality Commission rates the home Good overall, and Good for safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership.
Bedrooms are spread across three floors, each with an en-suite, and stair lifts serve most of them. Residents have two lounges, a small kitchenette for preparing snacks, and a heated outdoor smoking area, and they may bring personal belongings to make their rooms feel familiar. Activities include quizzes, bingo and reminiscence sessions, and outings are arranged where possible. Meals are cooked from scratch, and the home has held the Brighton and Hove Healthy Choice Award since 2011.
