Inspectors found that the home, which supports up to 25 older people, including some living with dementia or an eating disorder, provides good everyday care. Staff were found to know people's needs, wishes and risks well, and people were encouraged to eat and drink well and to make their own choices. The building had been adapted to suit residents, and rooms were personalised, with signage to help people find their way around.

Strengths noted
  • New staff went through recruitment checks, and enough suitable, skilled staff were in place.
  • Staff received the required training, competency checks, supervision and appraisals, with ongoing support to build their skills.
  • Staff recognised safeguarding concerns and knew where to report them, medicines were given as prescribed, and infection prevention guidance was followed.
  • Governance systems monitored the service and drove improvements, incidents led to learning, and the provider worked well with other agencies and professionals.
Areas to improve
  • The building was still being refurbished. A lot of the work had been completed, but not all of it was finished at the time of the inspection.
