What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 12 September 2022 · Last inspected 3 August 2022

Inspectors found that people felt cared for and safe, and described staff as warm and cheerful. Physical care, dietary needs and access to health services were generally handled well. However, people said they had too few chances to take part in activities, and inspectors found that quality checks and management communication needed improvement.

Strengths noted
  • Staff were described as kind, warm and cheerful, and people said they enjoyed living at the home and felt safe.
  • People said their physical care was well supported, and risks to their welfare were identified with plans to reduce them.
  • People enjoyed their food, had enough to eat, and received modified diets after assessments by health professionals.
  • New staff received an induction, all staff had access to online training, and relevant pre-employment checks were completed.
Areas to improve
  • People said they lacked opportunities to take part in activities, and their emotional and social care needs were not fully met.
  • Some fire safety checks were recorded, but records did not show that all fire safety checks and safety practices were completed as required.
  • The registered manager had not worked at the home for much of the year, the provider did not notify CQC as required, and quality assurance was not always effective.
