What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 19 January 2023 · Last inspected 28 November 2022

Inspectors found that care at this home for up to 16 people, mainly older people with some living with dementia, was tailored to individuals, and people said they felt at home there. Staff were described as knowing residents' needs, life histories and preferences well, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Inspectors identified some areas of record-keeping and decision-making practice that needed improvement.

Strengths noted
  • Care was personalised, and staff were kind, caring and familiar with each person's background and preferences.
  • Risks to people's safety and wellbeing were assessed and monitored, medicines were managed safely, and infection control was in place.
  • Activities reflected people's interests, people were supported to go out and keep in touch with family and friends, and mealtimes were enjoyable with individual tastes catered for.
  • Management was visible and approachable, and there was a positive culture focused on a homely, personalised service.
Areas to improve
  • Care plans were not always updated promptly, and the checks that should have picked this up had not been completed. The provider said it was changing its systems to address this.
  • The principles of the Mental Capacity Act were not fully embedded in day-to-day practice, which led to a recommendation, although inspectors saw no evidence this was affecting people's lives.
