About

Bethesda Care Home is on Springfield Road in Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland's Western Isles. It has 30 registered beds for people living with dementia. The home grew out of a response by the islands' Christian community to local need, and a Registered Manager runs it under standards agreed by an interdenominational charitable trust. A private road leads to the site, where parking is for visitors and staff only.

The site also includes a four-bed hospice unit offering specialist palliative care and short respite breaks for people with a terminal diagnosis. Visiting is open, with no set limit on visits each day or week. The Care Inspectorate graded the home Good for how well people's wellbeing is supported and how well care and support is planned, and Very good for its setting, staff team and leadership.
