What inspectors found
CQC: GoodReport published 6 March 2020 · Last inspected 6 February 2020
Inspectors found that everyday care at this residential home, which supports up to 25 older and younger adults including people with physical disabilities, was caring and tailored to individuals, even during a major refurbishment. Staff were kind, respected privacy and dignity, received training and support, and worked well with other health professionals, while people and their families were consulted about their care. Leadership was judged strong and helped the team cope with a disruptive building programme that had paused new admissions and limited activities.
- Staff were described as kind and caring, and relationships between staff and people appeared good.
- Care plans were detailed and person-centred, and people's preferences, including those for end of life, had been discussed and recorded.
- Staffing levels, safe recruitment, safeguarding, infection control and medicines management were all found to be in order.
- Leadership and governance were praised, with monitoring systems and plans for ongoing improvement in place.
- Risks created by the ongoing building work had not been fully assessed and managed at the time of inspection, although the registered manager began addressing them immediately.
- The building's design was noted as a challenge, particularly for people living with dementia.
- Activities were limited by the refurbishment, although suitable one-to-one provision had been arranged.
